Applying to drive with Wilma in London? Here’s what you need to know.

First, gather everything that you need to apply and download the Wilma Driver app:

  

Driver Requirements

  • 25 years of age or older
  • “F” gender designation on your Driver’s licence
  • Ontario Drivers Licence G class or higher (G1 or G2 is not allowed)

  • Min 3 years driving experience

  • Driving History Screening & Background Check – don’t worry, we will do this on your behalf.

Vehicle Requirements

  • A vehicle that is 10 years old or newer
  • 4 door vehicle
  • Seatbelts for every passenger including the driver (5-8)
  • Ontario Licence Plate

What documents do I need to become a driver?

  • Personal Vehicle Insurance

  • Ontario Vehicle Registration

  • Standard Safety Certificate – must be 60 days or newer from the time of application

  • One piece of Proof of Work eligibility. Choose from one of the following documents: Passport, Residency card, Birth certificate, Citizenship card, Certificate of Indian Status or Work permit

  • Driver Selfie (to be taken during the application process and submitted in the app)

  • Private Transportation Company (PTC) / Transportation Network Company (TNC) driver’s licence  – don’t worry, we will do this on your behalf once the application process has been completed and approved.

Once approved, you’ll receive:

  • Two Wilma trade dress stickers to display in the lower right-hand corner of your front windshield (passenger side) and the other in the same corner of your rear windshield
  • (Toronto only) Two “Watch for Bikes” stickers to place in your rear passenger side windows.

In addition, Wilma drivers in London are required to register for, and remit, Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)

Standard Safety Certificate

In order to drive with Wilma in London, Ontario, you’re required to submit a Standard Safety Certificate (SSC) at the time of application. The SSC must be no more than 60 days old at the time of submission. See a list of partners that provide this service in the City of London below.

Proof of Work eligibility

In order to drive with Wilma in London, Ontario, you must meet the requirements that allow you to work in Canada. Proof of work eligibility includes:

  • Passport
  • Residency Card
  • Birth certificate
  • Citizenship card
  • Certificate of Indian Status
  • Work permit

Each of these documents must have a valid expiry date.

Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)

Drivers are required to collect and report HST for earnings they received while driving with Wilma. We collect HST from the rider so this doesn’t come out of your earnings.

You’re responsible for filing GST/HST returns and reporting them to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
